About Brian Brodeur

It’s not surprising that Brian Brodeur has found himself a leader within the New Media community. Brodeur’s interests have always been focused around two main pursuits: entertainment and technology.

At an early age, Brodeur was performing music professionally while also learning to program his Apple II+ home computer. Brodeur studied Music Technology at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and over the years, he has participated in countless musical performances in many styles, formats, and on various instruments.

Upon leaving Berklee in 1991, Brodeur went on to manage several professional recording facilities outside Boston, producing several critically acclaimed indie-label recordings, and later developed audio for Educational CD-ROM games including Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft franchise and Davidson Software’s Magic Tales series.

In 1997, Brodeur joined the staff of DigiRom in New York, and worked closely with music-industry veteran Harry Hirsch (Media Sound, NARAS, IAR). While at DigiRom, Brodeur worked with early DVD technology, established one of New York’s first DVD authoring suites, and worked closely with major record labels.

Building on those relationships, Brodeur continued to provide production and consulting services throughout the late 90s; serving clients across the United States. In 1999, Brodeur joined the staff of USA Studios in Manhattan as Director of Multimedia, overseeing USA’s DVD and Internet operations including installation of their state-of-the-art Sonic Solutions 5.1 authoring suite. At this time, Brodeur established his successful relationship with Sonic Solutions, eventually leading to Brodeur becoming New York’s leading DVD Authoring trainer.

In 2001, Brodeur established NewYorkDVD and continued providing production and consulting services to clients across the United States and Europe. Again blending his love of music and technology, Brodeur established production relationships with leading music educational publishers Hudson Music/Hal Leaonard, Music Sales Int’l and Carl Fischer Inc. Based on these relationships, Brodeur and his team at NewYorkDVD developed many best-selling music educational titles featuring Steve Gadd (James Taylor/Paul Simon), Neil Peart (RUSH), Vinnie Colaiuta (Sting/Faith Hill), Steve Smith (Journey/Vital Information), Dave Weckl (DWB/Chick Corea), Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Buddy Rich, Gene Krupa, Louis Bellson, Sheila E (Prince), and dozens of other notable music artists.

Over the years, Brodeur and the NewYorkDVD team have developed hundreds of interactive projects, including the worldwide DVD release of Rod Stewart’s “One Night Only- Live from Royal Albert Hall”. Other recent projects have included DVD development for Mike Keneally, The Producers Guild of America, KINO International, Empire Pictures, UBS, Columbia/TriStar, USA Television, Phish, ABC/Disney, Barnes & Noble, J-Records, Ciao Italia (PBS) and Frank Zappa’s “DubRoom Special” & “Classic Albums” titles.

In 2006, NewYorkDVD was awarded the DVD Association’s Excellence Award for Music DVD development of Neil Peart’s “Anatomy of a Drum Solo” educational title. The double-disc set featured over 6 hours of widescreen footage, animated menus, and multi-angle video. NewYorkDVD releases have received dozens of industry awards and magazine readers’ polls including #1 sales ratings at Amazon, DVDUniverse and Billboard Magazine.

Brodeur and NewYorkDVD continue to meet the challenges of new technologies and opportunities including BluRay Disc production and Web 2.0 technology. Also, Brodeur has established a 5-year development and distribution agreement with Alfred Publications – a leading music educational publisher. With their creative talents, skillful producing, expert-level programming, and breadth of experience, Brian Brodeur and the NewYorkDVD team will continue to be powerful leaders in the new media industry.
